Heysham Flower Power has wrapped up an incredibly successful year, marked by an impressive collection of awards at the RHS North West in Bloom competition. This week, the team brought home several prestigious accolades that celebrate both their community spirit and dedication to creating beautiful, eco-friendly spaces.
A Gold-Streak Year
In a standout achievement, Heysham Flower Power won Gold for The Village and the title of Royal Best Small Accommodation Overall for the North West. This was complemented by another Gold for Best Small Accommodation, showcasing the community’s commitment to excellence in hospitality and floral displays.
Outstanding Community Projects
The group also earned Level 5 – Outstanding awards, the highest level attainable, for:
- Eco Coastal Garden
- Greenfingers Community Project on Smithy Lane
- Glebe Garden
- Heysham Heritage Centre, Trail & Garden
- Sycamore Bank
Additionally, the Forage & Bee Happy initiative received a Level 4 – Thriving designation, highlighting the group’s dedication to sustainability and biodiversity.
National Recognition at Britain in Bloom Finals
At the UK Finals in Old Trafford, held as part of Britain in Bloom’s 60th Anniversary, Heysham Flower Power shone once again, winning Gold in the Coastal Village category and a Certificate of Achievement for exceptional public engagement. They were also awarded the Arts & Culture award, acknowledging their efforts in fostering community connection through the beauty of nature.
These accomplishments are a testament to the hard work and passion of all the volunteers who contributed throughout the year, creating vibrant spaces for the Heysham community and its visitors to enjoy.
